This Appendix is for interested parties who wish to assess the basic technical characteristics of TeleCLAIM++. Potential users may already have an IT department with substantial investment in hardware and personnel andthey need to determine compatibility with their existing resources. The LINUX operating system and the open architecture software employed represent the most economical solution that may easily be accommodated in the department budget.
IMPORTANT TECHNICAL ATTRIBUTES FOR "IT" ASSESSMENT
Collateral information is contained in this Appendix to answer the major questions that arise in connection with technical considerations for the TeleCLAIM system.
It should be noted that TeleCLAIM complies with U.S. government standards and standards supported by the National Conference of Pharmacy Data processing Council (NCPDP). This standardization is valuable for availability of software and databases emanating from the very large and standardized industry leaders in Pharmacology modernization.
DpRx has not determined the format of major databases used in the Trinidad & Tobago pharmacy community. Therefore we assume that database format conversion is necessary for the two major databases – Eligibility and Drug price files. These will be performed by DpRx. The following statements are made in that regard for the implementation of the TeleCLAIM system.
►►Drug File Conversion & Element Requirements
Drug file conversion to TeleClaim assumes that the basic essential elements are contained therein. DpRx understands that media readable files exist.
A drug price file conversion utility already exists. This is compatible with Medispan MDDB and a custom drug file format. This utility may be upgraded to accommodate any Tobago Drug file that already exists.
Contents of this file should contain field elements of Product ID number, Manufacturer ID Number; Drug Name, Strength, Size, Type, Standard Industry Price; Government price; and other defining data.
►►Member Eligibility File Conversion
The TeleCLAIM system uses a NCPDP standard format for the member database
Format/Layout of members to be enrolled will be supplied by DpRx. This is an ASCII text comma separated value (CSV). The layout will be relayed to the Technical person (PBM admin) once the installation process is complete.
These files should contain Identification Number; Name; DOB; Gender; and other literal data.
